The chairwoman of the defense committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (FDP), hands out powerfully against Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). The FDP politician criticizes Scholz for his weak leadership style in the wake of the Ukraine war.
The reason for their critical approach lies in a burning letter that Strack-Zimmermann wrote to the chancellor, calling for a national Ukraine conference and an armaments coordinator.
The letter, however, remained unanswered. From this, Strack-Zimmermann draws the following conclusion in an interview with the news magazine FOCUS: “The Chancellery is not interested and believes that it is doing everything right.” to bring you to a table”.
In addition, Scholz-Zimmermann sees Chancellor Scholz as badly advised on Ukraine policy. Her main criticism is directed at Scholz’ foreign policy spokesman Jens Plötner. “There are people around him who put fleas in his ears; who have ideas that are no longer up-to-date,” said Strack-Zimmermann.
In particular, the 64-year-old’s reluctance to deliver weapons is a thorn in his side. The main person responsible for them is Plötner: “Mr Plötner is a clever person, an experienced diplomat. But in many places he continues to reveal a directional thinking that, in some respects, has brought us to the situation we are in now.”
“That’s a way of thinking that makes you sit like a rabbit in front of a snake towards Russia and hope that everything will be fine after all.”
One fails to recognize that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not willing to negotiate. The 64-year-old emphasized that he would only withdraw from his war course if he could no longer win anything militarily. In addition, the FDP defense expert renewed her call for military aid to Ukraine to be increased, for example with the delivery of the German Leopard 2 battle tank.
The Russian army experiences a deadly inferno in Ukraine. According to two military researchers, Putin’s troops will have to deal with the aftermath for a long time. An example case illustrates what happened on the battlefield.
Russia is now taking a new measure to recruit more people for the army. According to a media report, male employees of state-owned companies are laid off if they can be dispensed with. However, they should not be used at the front.
The Russian company Gazprom apparently burns part of the gas that is actually supposed to go to Germany in a targeted manner at the Nord Stream 1 compressor station near Saint Petersburg.
The losses on the Russian side have not been officially communicated, but observers assume around 15,000 casualties. In order to advance his “special operation”, Putin needs many new soldiers. And they come primarily from remote, poor provinces.
