A driver drives the wrong way onto the A94 – and crashes into another vehicle. The 34-year-old driver of the car died. Several people are injured.
A 34-year-old man was fatally injured in a head-on collision between his car and a wrong-way driver on the A94 in Upper Bavaria. The man died early Sunday evening at the accident site in the Altötting district, the police said.
The 38-year-old wrong-way driver suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision. He was taken to a clinic. The victim’s passenger was seriously injured.
Before that, the 38-year-old drove in the wrong direction onto the A94 at the Altötting junction around 6:00 p.m. for an initially unknown reason. Between the Neuötting and Altötting junctions, he then crashed head-on into the oncoming car of the 34-year-old, the police said. A third car, occupied by four people, then crashed into the debris, it was said. Another vehicle with two women finally drove into the wrong-way driver’s car.
The four occupants of the third vehicle were reportedly unharmed, the driver of the fourth car was slightly injured and her passenger was reportedly unharmed. The police estimate the damage at a total of around 100,000 euros. The lane was closed in the direction of Munich.
