The Salvadoran Football Association has condemned the death of a referee who was violently attacked at a game in the capital, San Salvador. As the association announced on Monday, it rejects “the physical aggression” that the 63-year-old referee Jose Arnoldo Amaya was met with by “so-called supporters and players”.
Amaya has been refereeing neighborhood, school and league games in El Salvador for over 20 years. He was taken to hospital after being physically attacked during a game last weekend. The referee died there from his injuries. The police have not yet given any details about the incident and are looking for the perpetrators.
