According to the Department, the price increase since the beginning of the year was associated, in particular, with increased costs to farmers for the purchase of imported feed, imported breeding eggs and day-old Chicks in connection with the appreciation of the currency. However, a significant effect on prices has a seasonal factor.
In recent days, declining prices for other foods, such as tomatoes and cucumbers, add to the FAS.
According to Deputy head of FAS Russia Pavel Sborshikov, fixed earlier jump in the value of individual product categories was driven by major changes in the Russian and world economy and excessive, uncontrolled demand. “However, when the growth of prices for food products is not justified economically, and caused only a desire to receive additional profit at the expense of citizens, the FAS Russia will use all legal measures of Antimonopoly response”, – said the representative office.
