“I have an expectation that there will be fewer festivals next year. Unfortunately.”
So cash is the conclusion, after Mette Frederiksen on Monday extended the forsamlingsforbuddet to and with august and thus forced the Danish organizers to cancel this summer’s festivals.
the Words come from Ronnie Hansen, who is the director of sports, culture and entertainment at the communication agency Geelmuyden Kiese.
“Like all other places in market will some festivals come to go bankrupt because of the corona-crisis.”
He will not put specific names on the festivals, which are particularly vulnerable to bankruptcy, but he stresses that aflysningerne going to weigh heavily all the way around.
“This is a really hard blow for the festivals, for the kompensationpakker, there is right now, does not take full account of the specific economic situation, the festivals are in.”
“Festivals earn their profit on quite a few days, and therefore, they come in huge economic problems.”
There is a group of festivals, which, according to Ronnie Hansen is particularly exposed. It is them, which he calls the ‘between festivals’. Thus, festivals that are arrangereret of smaller, local organisations, but who also have international names on the program.
“It is typically those who do not have a high bundnivaeu on ticket sales, and it has a little hard each year. They have the money out and swim both in Denmark and internationally.”
the Major festivals – especially those that are a part of an international collaboration – is significantly better off, since they are more likely to have access to the international capital market.
“It has the foreningsdrevne festivals not. They can’t go out and find ten million on the way.”
the Festivals can, however, do anything to stay afloat for now. They can ask billetindehavere to transfer their 2020-ticket to 2021.
It has, among others Roskilde Festival done, and even though according to Ronnie Hansen is a bit like peeing in your pants to keep in the heat, it’s the best solution.
“It is expensive to borrow money and finance a festival, and on the way lend the organizers a bit of consumers. At the same time saves the money on marketing, because they will not have as many tickets to sell later.”
festival-goers can also make their order, to their yndlingsfestival survive corona-the crisis: They can already buy a ticket – even if it can not be redeemed in the year.
Ronnie Hansen just bought a ticket to the Tønder Festival.
“If you think that the festival is good and important for the local community, you can help by buying a ticket.”
But how come festivallandskabet so look out next year when organizers can once again be allowed to bid on the beer in the cups and music under the open sky? Also, it has Ronnie Hansen a bid on:
“I think we will see a festivaldanmark shot off with a rocket, because they have had extra time to make ready. It really is that bad in years, but I also expect a big festivalscomeback next year.”
“I have the expectation that there will be sold many, many tickets. Many will be excited to get their festivals back.”
