Jan Ullrich has had difficult months. At the turn of the year he had a relapse and was in a hospital in Mexico. Now the ex-Radstar is doing better. And he turns to his fans in a letter. Thank you for the great encouragement.

Jan Ullrich wrote to his fans in a letter. In the “Bild” newspaper, the 1997 Tour de France winner writes that the current tour has probably awakened memories in “many of you”. “Many have written to me in recent weeks, including many with very personal messages.” Some would have told him about very eventful life stories or difficult phases of life. “Your stories showed many parallels with my own story. “That touched me very much,” writes Ullrich.

And further: “In all your messages that have reached me, words like ‘enthusiasm, respect, hope, hero, unforgettable, inspiring, respectful, fight and stand up’ have been chosen again and again.”

The encouragement is “motivating”, according to Ullrich. That almost knocked him out. The ex-Radstar writes: “It means a lot to me to have such supporters and fans.”

Ullrich recently went through a roller coaster ride in his life. Shortly before Christmas 2021, the 48-year-old had to be hospitalized in Mexico. His former rival Lance Armstrong recently reported in the ARD podcast “Jan Ullrich – Held auf Zeit” about how he found Ullrich there: “He was tied to the bed, unconscious. It was the worst of all.”

Meanwhile, Ullrich seems to be doing well again. At the beginning of the current Tour de France, he sent a video greeting via Instagram. Ullrich was just on a bike ride. Pictures from a joint tour with children followed recently. And now thanks to his fans.
