Former Deputy Chairman of the state security Committee (KGB) of Belarus, major-General in the resignation of Ivan Yurkin condemned the violence against protesters. He said this “Interfax”.

According to him, violence against protesters is unacceptable form of the termination of the protest.

Yurkin appealed urgently to hold open parliamentary hearings to resolve the situation in the country.

August 9, in Belarus presidential elections were held. After the polls closed, the country began mass protests against the falsification of the results. During the protests police used against the demonstrators with tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets.

Later the country went on strike in the largest industrial enterprises, the staff demanded new elections and the cessation of harsh treatment of protesters at demonstrations. All the staffs of the opposition candidates have declared non-recognition of the official election results.
