Do the Golden State Warriors dare to bring in superstar Kevin Durant again? The NBA exceptional talent has been successful there before, but his last year was not very harmonious. Now there are rumors of a return – despite the Warriors’ championship.
The Golden State Warriors proved this summer that they don’t need Kevin Durant to win another NBA title. Still, there’s still talk of whether the Warriors are genuinely interested in retrieving their two-time Finals MVP.
During his two years in Brooklyn, Durant averaged 28.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game with a 52.5% firing rate from the field.
Even though he turns 34 this September, Durant is still a formidable offensive weapon and a player who can make the Warriors an overwhelming championship favorite, as his three-year stint there through 2019 proves.
While the Warriors are still a long way from Durant at the moment, NBA insider Brian Windhorst said Stephen Curry and Warriors majority owner Joe Lacob aren’t ruling out a possible reunion with the former Warriors superstar.
Windhorst: “I think it says a lot about the Warriors organization that they wouldn’t slam the door on him just after a championship and Steph Curry just after a crowning moment in his career. Steph Curry has the clout to end something like this with Durant, but he doesn’t. Joe Lacob won’t do it.”
