Former UK National Lottery winners have come together to recreate the planters that surrounded Ilkley’s open-air swimming pool in its 1930s glory days.
Volunteers spent a day building planters that line the walkway from the cafe to the pool and filling them with colorful flowers inspired by an old photograph.
The lido of Ilkley, a town of nearly 15,000 people in the north of England, is considered one of the best open-air swimming pools in the country, but its surroundings had been neglected in recent years. years.
Dating back to 1935, the place can attract up to 4,000 visitors a day during the summer months.
