Copenhagen should have formed the framework for a historic football feast this summer, when four EM-matches should be settled in the Danish capital.
But the EM-finals is, as you know, deferred to the summer of 2021 because of coronavirussen.
And it is at the present time remains to be seen whether Copenhagen is still a part of the EM plans, as there has been reported something concrete out from UEFAs page.
Now, however, there is good news for Danish football fans who had looked forward to, that Copenhagen should be included in the pool of host cities.
a spokesperson from UEFA confirming to Sky Sports, UEFA works with a 2021 model, involving all the cities, that should have been the host cities this summer.
“EM, is expected to take place between 11. June and 11. July, with the intention to have the same kampplan and the same host cities,” says the spokesperson.
In the same breath stressed, however, that nothing yet is fixed.
“But at this time kampplanen not yet officially confirmed. UEFA is in contact with all 12 host cities on the matter, and further announcements will come when the time is,” sounds it.
The original host cities are London, Munich, Rome, Saint Petersburg, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Dublin, Baku, Glasgow – and thus Copenhagen.
That should have been played four matches in the Parken in Copenhagen this summer: Denmark’s three preliminary group stage matches, as well as a 1/8-finale.
DBU has previously reported out, that you will go after to get the same kamppakke to Copenhagen in the summer of 2021.
Denmark is the european championship in group with Russia, Belgium and Finland.
