This decision will probably be made in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Elmos announced on Monday. So far, the Ministry of Economics has announced that the takeover will probably be approved.
“Once the decision has been received, the parties involved will examine it in detail and then decide on further steps,” said Elmos. Nothing was disclosed about the reasons for the decision. Elmos develops, produces and sells semiconductors primarily for use in cars.
At the end of last year, the company announced that it wanted to sell the production of so-called wafers in Dortmund to the Swedish competitor Silex for a total of around 85 million euros. Silex is a subsidiary of the Chinese Sai Group.
The Economics Ministry is examining whether the sale of the chip factory will be prohibited.
