It was to be expected. Due to the actors union SAG-AFTRA strike, the studio Warner Bros. announced early Thursday evening that Dune: Part Two, by Denis Villeneuve, was postponed to March 15, 2024.
The news was first reported by Variety.
Originally scheduled for November 3, the Quebec film had been the subject of postponement rumors for a few weeks. Since Hollywood actors and actresses have refrained from promoting their works since their union went on strike, Warner Bros. certainly saw a risk in limiting their blockbuster’s revenue if it maintained the current release date.
Especially since the cast of Dune: Part Two includes many very popular comedians, such as Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin and Christopher Walken.
Also note that Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire by Adam Wingard, scheduled for March 14, has been moved to April 12.
