In Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock near Bielefeld, a 19-year-old driver drove into a group of joggers on Saturday. Three women were seriously injured.
“They were hit head-on,” said a police spokeswoman. It is not yet known whether the injuries are life-threatening. The three women were taken to hospitals. Fire engines and a rescue helicopter were deployed on site.
The five other members of the jogging group were in shock and were being cared for, the spokeswoman said. According to current information, the 19-year-old driver remained uninjured. The windshield of his car was badly damaged.
It is assumed that there was an accident, said the spokeswoman. The driver veered off the road to the left in a rural area for reasons that are still unclear. She couldn’t say anything about whether he was driving at too high a speed. The “Westfalen-Blatt” reported.
