What a dilemma: ex-national player Nico Schulz is unhappy at BVB and wants to leave – but at the same time he is threatening to stay.
Schulz wants to go: Nico Schulz is scheduled to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. The left-back apparently sees it the same way: “Nico hasn’t played, is dissatisfied with himself, is looking for a new sporting challenge and is very open to a change. That’s how it is when it doesn’t fit, when you don’t appreciate yourself anymore,” Schulz consultant Roger Wittmann told the “Bild” newspaper.
Short, compact, clear
But threatens to stay: In the course of the squad restructuring, BVB is dependent on Schulze’s departure – if he leaves, an important salary budget will be free. The 29-year-old is obviously aware of this and ready to put a spanner in the works for the black and yellow: “He will not change just so that he has changed. He will go to a good club and if that doesn’t work, then stay,” Wittmann continued.
Raum is supposed to replace Schulz: So is BVB in a stalemate situation? Probably, because the Ruhrpott-Klub is actually already working on a new solution for the left-back position. National player David Raum is set to replace Schulz on the left flank next season. However, if the 29-year-old does not go, BVB will lack the financial means to bring space to Dortmund.
