Wimbledon could also be held without Russian athletes next year – on one condition. The tennis associations don’t think much of the measure.
Another possible exclusion of Russian athletes: Wimbledon could also take place next year without Russian athletes. This is reported by the “Daily Mail”. Should Russia’s war in Ukraine still prevail, a renewed exclusion is conceivable. A final decision is expected to be made in March 2023.

WTA and ATP against measures: The world tennis associations for women and men are opposed to the exclusion of Russian athletes. Already this year, the exclusion had meant that those responsible in Wimbledon had to pay a fine of one million euros and the tournament was counted without world ranking points.
IOC stands behind the exclusion: The International Olympic Committee stands behind those responsible for Wimbledon. The IOC is considering banning Russian athletes from qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Olympics. The tournaments start next month.
