Anyone who wants to buy Kellogg’s from Rewe in the near future will be out of luck. The supermarket chain sorts out the cornflakes manufacturer’s products and fills its shelves elsewhere. The background is a dispute about possible price increases.

Kellogg’s products will soon no longer be available from Rewe. According to a report in the “Lebensmittelzeitung”, the supermarket chain is already sorting out the products. The background is a dispute over prices.

According to the report, the cornflakes manufacturer is demanding a price increase of 29 percent, with which Rewe does not agree. The reason: In neighboring countries, Kellogg’s only charges around five percent more. A spokesman emphasized that branded goods are still important for Rewe, “but not at any price”.

When asked by the “Lebensmittelzeitung”, neither Rewe nor Kellogg’s gave any details. However, a spokesman for the supermarket giant confirmed that Kellogg’s had “no common understanding of reasonable price increases”.

Since the price increase was supposed to take effect on November 1st, Rewe is now starting to sort the Kellogg’s products off the shelves. The cornflakes giant also stopped deliveries a long time ago. Instead, new products of the own brand “Ja” based on Kellogg’s cornflakes are to replace the branded cereals. These are significantly cheaper for customers.
