The Dead Rabbit, an award-winning Irish pub from New York, has opened a new location in Austin at 204 E. Sixth Street. Alongside The Dead Rabbit is Neighbourhood Cafe at 200 E. Sixth, a Belfast-inspired cafe serving coffee, pastries, and light bites. The two establishments bring a taste of Ireland to Austin’s historic Sixth Street district.

The Dead Rabbit, named “The World’s Best Bar” in 2015, offers a variety of cocktails and classic Irish-American pub food. Their bar manager, Brittany McMillan, highlights the inviting and approachable atmosphere of the bar, aiming to provide elevated cocktails while embracing Austin’s vibrant scene. Neighbourhood Cafe, owned by Ryan Crown and Oisin McEvoy, features curated pieces on the walls that showcase modern day Ireland through photography.

Visitors can indulge in tiramisu lattes at Neighbourhood Cafe and enjoy corned beef sliders and sausage rolls at The Dead Rabbit. Popular cocktails at The Dead Rabbit include the Usquebach and the Austin-specific Lawn Dart, featuring Mal Bien Mezcal. The venue plans to host live music and comedy events, adding to Austin’s entertainment scene on Sixth Street.

The addition of The Dead Rabbit and Neighbourhood Cafe brings a unique and welcoming environment to the area, standing out from the typical shot bars on Dirty Sixth. Neighbourhood Cafe will also be available for private events after 4pm and serve as overflow space for The Dead Rabbit on busy weekends. With plans for live entertainment, these Belfast-inspired eateries are set to become a permanent fixture on Sixth Street, offering a taste of Dublin in Downtown Austin.
