The Grand master of the Maltese order, fra (short for frater brother is placed before the name of the monk) Giacomo dalla Torre died in Rome in the night of Wednesday, April 29, reported on the website of the Catholic order. 75-year-old Grand master died of an incurable disease. As reports “RIA Novosti”, the cause of his death was cancer.Fra Giacomo was born in 1944 in Rome. He received higher education in the Humanities University of Rome, specialising in Christian archaeology and art history. He has also published a number of essays and articles on various aspects of the history of medieval art. He was elected interim head of the order exactly three years ago — April 29, 2017. A year later he was elected head of the order of Malta.
