a Disciple and colleague of the great Soviet lawyers, who in the difficult period of the planned socialist economy to preserve basic legal principles, Alexander L. all his life devoted to the service of law.
since the 60-ies, Alexander L. participated in the codification of civil law, was the Executive Secretary for the preparation of the civil code of the RSFSR. Subsequently he took an active part in the preparation of the Fundamentals of civil legislation of the USSR and the Union republics of 1991.
Commitment to the rights allowed A. L. Makovsky, already in his Mature years to take an active part in the creation of qualitatively new civil legislation of the Russian Federation, a modern Civil code of Russia, all its four parts.
the Major part of their creative and professional lives, Alexander L. was engaged in the study of private law in the all-Union Institute of juridical Sciences (now the Institute of legislation and comparative law under the Government of the Russian Federation) and Research center of private law under the President of the Russian Federation. Until the last day, he was Deputy Chairman of the presidential Council of the Russian Federation on codification and enhancement of civil legislation.
A. L. Makovsky not only left us a rich scientific heritage, but also prepared a lot of high qualified lawyers – successors of the business.
In our memory will forever remain bright image of a Scholar, a Teacher, sincere and friendly man who had done so much for the legal community, and throughout the country.
