(Los Angeles) Rising American star David Corenswet will be the next actor to put on the red Superman cape, the director of the next installment of the saga, James Gunn, confirmed on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old American rose to prominence for his roles in several hit series, including Netflix’s Hollywood and The Politician, HBO’s We Own This City and Universal’s Pearl.
David Corenswet will take on the mythical role of superhero this time in Superman: Legacy, produced by Warner Bros studios for 2025.
The news was first reported by specialized Hollywood media, also revealing in passing that Rachel Brosnahan, title role in the series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was cast as Superman’s love interest, journalist Lois Lane.

Before him, actors Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and more recently Henry Cavill portrayed Superman on the big screen – one of the most valued roles in Hollywood.
Last year, Warner Bros. commissioned the duo of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Aquaman producer Peter Safran to relaunch the DC Comics franchise’s superhero films, with the aim of reinvigorating it against to the fierce competition from Marvel.
