A man named Sherles Gregorio Machado-Hernandez, aged 31, has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with a homicide that occurred in southeast Austin. The victim, Francis Kaina Anseume Corredor, aged 27, was in a common law marriage with Machado-Hernandez, who is accused of killing her. Bryan Florentino Flores Alvarez, aged 19, was also found dead at the scene and was in a dating relationship with Anseume.

During a press conference held by Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, it was emphasized that the suspect had committed a cowardly act by taking the life of the mother of his children, leaving them without a mother. The incident highlights the issue of family violence, which affects all levels of the police department.

The tragic event took place on Burton Drive in the Riverside neighborhood, where Anseume and Flores were discovered dead inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds. Surveillance footage showed Machado-Hernandez arriving at the scene in the early hours of the morning. Investigators are still trying to determine how he located Anseume, with whom Flores lived in the same apartment complex.

An Amber Alert was issued following the discovery of the crime, as three children were reported missing. Two of the children were identified as belonging to Machado-Hernandez and Anseume. Fortunately, the children were found safe after family members contacted the police within an hour of the alert being issued.

Detectives are working to piece together the timeline of events and understand how long Machado-Hernandez was with the children during the period they were unaccounted for. At this stage, he is only facing charges related to the murder case and not the Amber Alert incident.

Law enforcement officers conducted a search for the suspect, tracking multiple vehicles before apprehending Machado-Hernandez. It was revealed that the suspect had altered license plates on one of the vehicles in an attempt to evade capture.

Child Protective Services disclosed that they had an open case involving Machado-Hernandez and one of the children involved in the Amber Alert. The agency is currently working to find suitable placements for the children affected by the tragedy.

The police did not provide details on the third child of Anseume’s, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover more information about the case. The community has been left shocked and saddened by the senseless violence that has torn a family apart.
