Colin Kaepernick needs receivers to catch his passes, and a team to sign him.

Kaepernick led the San Francisco 49ers towards a Super Bowl appearance in 2012, the same year that he began kneeling during the national song to protest racial injustice.

He tweeted on Sunday: “For the past five years, I’ve been working hard and being ready for any opportunity to play.” My trainer has been a great friend and thrower. Man, I miss the professional route runners. Who’s working?? “I will pull up.”

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett quickly offered his services and Kaepernick replied, saying that he would be there Monday to coordinate with him. It was not immediately clear where they would meet.

Kaepernick had met with Seattle years ago. However, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll stated that he should be a starting quarterback in the league. The team wanted only a backup for Russell Wilson. Wilson was traded to Denver.

In 2017, when Joe Flacco, the former starting quarterback, was suffering from a back injury that would prevent him from playing for the entire season, the Ravens were open to signing Kaepernick. Steve Bisciotti, the owner, said that he had spoken with fans and that the team passed.

In November 2019, the NFL hosted a Kaepernick workout in Atlanta. However, it was chaotic and ended in no job offers.

In October 2017, Kaepernick, Reid and others filed collusion grievances against league officials claiming they were blacklisted for protests at the anthem during games. They came to an agreement in 2019.

Kaepernick was almost alone when he took a knee in protest against police brutality, racial injustice and racism in 2016. Eric Reid, a teammate, joined him. However, politicians, team owners, and other players criticised him. Fans burned his jersey and he was even booed at home. Global opinion had changed to the point where more people started to denigrate Kaepernick and misrepresent his position.

He has not been offered a chance to play in the NFL again.
