Ilkay Gündogan think it would be fair to give Liverpool the championship if the season is cancelled.
If you must give up to play the Premier League season to end because of coronakrisen, worthy of Liverpool to be awarded the championship and get the trophy presented.
It takes midfielder Ilkay Gündogan from Manchester City, who are Liverpool’s closest competitor for the championship.
– For me it will be ok, yes. As a sportsperson, you must be fair, says Ilkay Gündogan to the German tv-station ZDF.
Liverpool have played a superb season and leads by as much as 25 points down to Manchester City, who however have played a match fewer.
With nine games left to play missing Liverpool just two victories to win the championship for the first time in 30 years.
Gündogan does, however, accept that there will be shared opinions on how to solve a situation where the tournament cannot be played to completion.
– There are different opinions. For clubs that have had a really good season, it will of course not be cool if the season is canceled completely.
– And for teams that haven’t performed as well and perhaps to relegation, will a cancellation, of course, take good care, outlines the midfielder.
the Premier League is initially suspended up to 30. april, but the number of coronasmittede English are increasing, so it is doubtful whether the season can be going on at the time.
As the EM 2020 is postponed until the summer of 2021, the national leagues, however, take this summer in order to færdigspille leagues, if coronakrisen at the time have subsided.
