Monday’s coroner identified the young couple who were killed in a shooting that occurred at a Halloween party in suburban Chicago. The incident left more than a dozen people injured.

Laurie Summers, Will County Coroner, said Holly Matthews (22-year-old) and Jonathan Ceballos (22-year old Joliet residents), were shot to death at the party in Joliet about 45 miles (70 km) southwest of Chicago.

Police are seeking public tips to find two suspect shooters who fled the scene. They also need witnesses and anyone with video or photos from the party.

Summers stated in a statement Monday that autopsies had been performed Monday and that Matthews and Ceballos each sustained one gunshot wound.

According to the Chicago Tribune, they were among over 200 guests at the party.

“She was just a little girl dressed up in Halloween costumes. Her life was lost without any reason. Stephen Matthews, Holly Matthews’ father, said that Holly Matthews died for no reason.

According to relatives of hosts, the party was originally intended for 50 friends and family members. According to the Will County sheriff’s news release, hundreds of people from nearby communities came out to promote the party through social media.

According to The (Joliet Herald-News), the age range of those who attended was between their teens and mid-20s.

According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses claimed that two individuals fired shots from a porch looking out at the crowd from a backyard. The shots were fired near a DJ booth.

Police said that 10 people were injured by the bullet spray, and others were taken to hospital for injuries sustained in the rush to escape.

“People just started running as soon as they started shooting,” stated Will County Sheriff’s Chief Dan Jungles. He said that several personal items, such as cellphones, purses, and car keys were recovered by deputies.
