The Cuban Chancellor Pays Tribute to Fidel and Russian Heroes

Today, the Cuban Chancellor, Bruno Rodríguez, and his delegation visited the monument dedicated to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016) in Moscow. They arrived at the sculpture erected in his honor in the Sokol district, where floral arrangements were placed with messages honoring Fidel from the people and government of Cuba.

The sculpture of Fidel, inaugurated by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 22, 2022, stands as a tribute from Russian society to the paradigm of Latin America and the world.

In the square named after the undefeated Commander-in-Chief since 2017, a three-meter bronze statue of the young bearded Fidel in military uniform and his traditional beret stands on a stone block with the map of Cuba.

The architect and sculptor of the statue, Andrey Beliy and Alexey Chebanenko, stated that the sculpture represents the heroic journey of a man who defended the rights of his people. Additionally, the Cuban Foreign Minister visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

In this historic location, a mandatory visit for those in Moscow, the Cuban minister laid a wreath in tribute to those who fell in combat against Nazi Germany in World War II. After these activities, Rodríguez and his delegation will hold bilateral talks with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.

These events symbolize the strong ties between Cuba and Russia and the mutual respect for historical figures and heroes who have made significant contributions to their nations. The visit serves as a reminder of the importance of honoring those who have fought for freedom and justice. It also highlights the ongoing diplomatic relations between the two countries and their commitment to solidarity and cooperation on various fronts.
