As a 16-year-old, he bought porn magazines and resold them. He later opened strip clubs and began producing pornographic content himself, using controversial methods. Carl Serung didn’t make many friends. Now he died alone in his one-room apartment.
Through his ominous dealings, he made a very special name for himself: As the Swedish “porn king”, Carl Serung stood for sex, exploitation and violence. The controversial ex-millionaire has changed his name at least twice: he was born Greger Lundin and died at the age of 64 as Philip Decrosse.
As the “Bild” reports, the porn gangster died lonely and alone in his one-room apartment in Uppsala – the city in which he was born in 1958. That he could die there, however, is not a matter of course. Because of his dubious business and high tax debts, Serung has meanwhile fled Sweden – to Thailand, it is said.
Serung started his career in the porn industry at the tender age of 16. At that time he bought up old porn magazines and sold them through advertisements in daily newspapers via mail order. He is said to have been quite successful with that. He later opened several strip clubs and eventually began creating pornographic content himself.
However, opinions are divided here: Rumors quickly arose that Serung is said to have given the women who starred in his films drugs. It is said that they were often minors. In addition, his productions have taken on increasingly ominous forms over time. He became known for violence and misogyny.
A former Serung employee, Henrik Alexandersson, also commented on this a few years ago. He was one of the first to go public. He told radio station P3 in 2009 how “disgusted” he was by Serung’s methods and ideas. He also reported on the death of his ex-boss in a short post on Facebook. In Swedish he writes: “My old employer is dead” and refers to his contribution to Swedish radio: “Here I tell his senseless story.”
Not infrequently he himself has taken leading roles in his films. He broke the camel’s back with a strip in which he is said to have defecated and urinated on the women. This is where the Swedish public prosecutor’s office began to investigate Serung. Shortly thereafter, the tax office intervened and demanded a tax debt of 200,000 euros from Serung.
He fled to Thailand, and from about the mid-1990s his tracks were erased. Former friends of Serung are said to have taken over his clubs in Sweden, which the porn king apparently did not like – he is said to have directed attacks against them from Thailand, there is said to have been a real “porn war” in Sweden.
Carl Serung is believed to have returned to Sweden in the early 2000s under his new name, Philip Decrosse. He died in his apartment in Uppsala on December 28, 2022, details of the cause of death are not known. However, the Swedish police rule out third-party fault.
