The new mouse will be similar in symptoms to the pathogenesis of COVID-19 in humans and will allow you to explore vaccines and therapeutic drugs against COVID-19, according to the Agency.
"the Main difference of this model from existing in the world will be her biological security — mice acquire sensitivity to the virus only after induction in the conditions of a Virology laboratory to eliminate risks to work with them in nurseries and non-specialized laboratories during a pandemic", — stated in the message.
According to the Agency, in the first phase, mice will be created by method of transgenesis, but then as soon as the molecular cloning of complex structures, the developers will move to the use of CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. Scientists hope to have initial results in June 2020.
