Borussia Dortmund wants to streamline its squad – with surprising consequences for four top players. Four stars are said to have been told that they no longer have a chance at BVB.
Several BVB stars without a future: Borussia Dortmund is said to have informed Thorgan Hazard, Nico Schulz, Manuel Akanji and Julian Brandt that they should look for a new club, as Sky reporter Sven Westerschulze announced on Twitter. Accordingly, the quartet no longer plays a role in the plans of those responsible for the coming season.
Short, compact, clear
Three professionals came with high hopes: Brandt, Hazard and Schulz shared the fate that they were signed in the summer of 2019 as hopefuls from direct Bundesliga competition (Leverkusen, Gladbach, Hoffenheim). They were seen as a beacon of hope to finally be able to challenge Bayern for the championship again.
Disappointments in Dortmund: The three were just as unable to meet the expectations placed in them as Manuel Akanji. Schulz and Brandt also lost their places as national players during their time at BVB. Nevertheless, there should be an ambitious market for all four, which will save them from a grandstand seat in Dortmund.
