According to a media report, after the cutback in gas supplies to Germany, the federal government now wants to announce the second stage of the gas emergency plan. The Federal Ministry of Economics denies.

As the newspaper “Die Welt” reports, the step is imminent. The newspaper refers to circles in the energy industry. This was informed about the forthcoming step by the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), Patrick Graichen.

However, the Federal Ministry of Economics denied the following day: “We decide according to the current situation and the current picture of the situation. That is what the emergency plan and the legal regulations provide for.” A decision has allegedly not yet been made.

The “Welt” had reported that four people familiar with the process had confirmed to the newspaper that utilities should “assume” that the alert level would be declared within five to 10 days, it said. The ministry did not want to confirm or deny the facts when asked, the newspaper wrote. The Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) also reported that no content of the meetings or speculation in this regard was discussed.
