According to media information, in the affair surrounding the ordering of corona masks from the Swiss company Emix, the Berlin public prosecutor’s office is investigating a high-ranking official in the Federal Ministry of Health for breach of trust.
The official is suspected of having wasted tax money on a large scale with two orders, the broadcasters NDR and WDR and the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” reported on Friday.
The official relied on the fact that he could not have acted differently in view of the emergency at the time.
Last year, the Federal Court of Auditors criticized the Ministry of Health’s ordering practice at the Swiss company Emix.
Because the ministry led by Jens Spahn (CDU) at the time had much cheaper offers at the time of ordering 100 million FFP2 masks from Emix at a price of 5.40 euros per piece.
The contact to the Swiss company originally came about through Andrea Tandler, the owner of a PR agency and daughter of the former CSU General Secretary Georg Tandler.
Tandler and her business partner Darius N. are said to have received commissions in the millions for this and another deal with the Federal Ministry of Health. Both deny allegations made through their lawyer.
