Tottenham have apparently entered the race for Sevilla’s coveted centre-back Jules Koundé – with Spurs resorting to an unusual transfer tactic to outperform their strong opposition.
Spurs buy big: Tottenham have been very active in the transfer market this summer, signing Richarlison and Yves Bissouma for a total of €106m, while Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster joined London on free transfers. Also, Clement Lenglet has been loaned out from Barcelona and Middlesbrough star Djed Spence is reportedly imminent to sign.
Short, compact, clear
Conte wants a new defensive star: Coach Antonio Conte also wants to strengthen the central defense. That’s why the Frenchman Jules Koundé from FC Sevila is now in his sights, as “The Mirror” reports. However, the Spaniards are calling for the handsome fee of 90 million euros for the 23-year-old. Too much for the fourth of the past Premier League season, who competes with Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona at Koundé.
Four players should go: Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks should either be sold or offered directly to Sevilla FC to offset the possible Koundé deal. For the club’s Asian tour, coach Conte left the sales candidates at home. It remains to be seen whether this unusual approach will be crowned with success.
