According to information from the US secret service, Iran could now take revenge for the drone attack on General Qassem Soleimani two years ago. Accordingly, the secret services expect a possible attack on a current or former member of the US government.
According to a National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) report first reported by Yahoo News, Iran may be planning an attack on a current or former US government official.
The findings of the US secret service are based on the analysis of public statements and actions over the past few months.
The letter also names ex-President Donald Trump as a possible target: “Since January 2021, Tehran has publicly expressed intentions to conduct lethal operations inside the United States, targeting former President Donald Trump, former Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and the former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Kenneth McKenzie, as priority targets for retaliatory action.”
Background: After the Iranian general Soleimani was killed in a drone attack in Iraq in early January 2020, the USA called on all US citizens to leave the country “immediately”. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani announced retaliation.
Trump tweeted at the time: “Iran has never won a war but has never lost a negotiation.”
