The city of Austin has declared August 24 as Meadow Goodman Mental Health Awareness Day in honor of the local musician who passed away last year. Meadow Goodman, the daughter of bassist Greg Goodman and student at Anderson High School, lost her battle with mental illness in August 2023. To commemorate her, the benefit show MeadowFest will take place at Far Out Lounge on the same day.

MeadowFest, presented by KUTX, will feature performances by Grupo Fantasma, Superfónicos, Como Las Movies with Sabrina Ellis, Nemegata, the Point, Somebody Someone, and School of Rock. District 2 Council Member Vanessa Fuentes will dedicate the date to Meadow’s honor at the event, which will support Out Youth Austin and the SIMS Foundation.

Fuentes expressed her excitement about recognizing Meadow Goodman Mental Health Awareness Day and highlighted the importance of combining art, music, and mental health advocacy. The event aims to create a unique and enjoyable experience while supporting local artists and mental health organizations in Austin.

Tickets for MeadowFest are available for purchase, and the event promises to be a meaningful tribute to Meadow Goodman’s legacy. The community is encouraged to come together in support of mental health awareness and local artists.
