From August 21 to 26 in Orenburg there will pass XIII international film festival “East&West”. His program included about 60 paintings from 13 countries, including from Belarus.

the show will be attended by tapes from the Czech Republic, Ireland, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, South Korea, Denmark, Bulgaria, Serbia, Belarus, USA, Iran and Russia. The opening film will be Korean Thriller “the Train to Busan 2: Peninsula”, included in the official selection of the Cannes film festival.

In the non-competitive sections of the audience will be retrospectives devoted to the past the anniversary of Ingmar Bergman and the 75th anniversary of the Victory. In honor of the 120th anniversary of Luis buñuel’s organizers included in the program’s animated film “buñuel in the maze of turtles”, and the 100th anniversary of Federico Fellini, the show will celebrate the show “8 1/2”.

In the competition of feature films involved the Russian-Belarusian drama “Kaddish,” directed by Konstantin FAM.

In retrospect, the 75th anniversary of the Victory will show the film of 1962 “Ivanovo the childhood” Andrey Tarkovsky and a picture of “the Ascension” Larissa Shepitko, filmed in 1976 on the novel of Belarusian classic Vasil Bykov “Sotnikov”. The music for the latter wrote to Alfred Schnittke. The film received several awards at the Berlinale in 1977, becoming the first Soviet film to be awarded the highest award of the festival – “Golden bear”. The film takes place during the great Patriotic war in German-occupied Belarus in the winter of 1942. “Climbing” was the last completed film in the directorial career of Larisa Shepitko. Three years after the release of the film on the screens she died in a car accident during the filming of the cardsins “Farewell to Matyora”.

the main competition jury of the festival includes Director, cameraman and scriptwriter Sergei Mokritsky (Chairman), honoured artist of Russia Eudoxia Germanova, doctor of arts, Professor of cinematography, cultural studies and program Director of MIFF Kirill Razlogov, producer Roman Borisevich, actor and laureate of the Union state prize in literature and art, people’s artist of Belarus Vladimir Gostyukhin.

Winners of international and Russian competitions traditionally awarded a prize “the Gold Sarmatian lion”. President of the festival is Director and producer Tatiana Voronetskaya.
