A tour group was stranded at Palma de Mallorca airport for 36 hours. The 140 vacationers are waiting for their return flight to Düsseldorf, but it is almost two days late. The reason for the delay is sad: the crew cannot continue working due to a medical emergency.

140 tourists who spent a package holiday from the tour operator Tui in Mallorca wanted to start their return journey to Düsseldorf on Tuesday morning, June 21st. The plane was supposed to take off at Palma de Mallorca Airport at 9:05 am sharp. But the journey home turned into an odyssey.

However, the reason for the short-term failure of the aircraft cannot be attributed to the general flight chaos that is currently prevailing, but rather to a tragic nature. “However, when the plane arrived, there was a medical emergency on board and we had to make an unscheduled stopover in Geneva,” a spokesman for the tour operator told the “Mallorca Zeitung”.

The reason why the plane finally flew to Mallorca, but returned to Düsseldorf without passengers, is understandable: “Afterwards, the crew felt emotionally unable to carry out the return flight to Germany. This is a standard procedure. Safety comes first.” The crew therefore stayed on the Spanish island. The background to the emergency on board and how the person concerned is doing is not known.

However, it is known how the 140 travelers will continue. “First, a return flight was scheduled for Tuesday evening,” said one tourist. However, this did not happen, which is why the tour group was taken to a hotel in Santa Ponca in the evening. “We were taken back to the airport at 6 a.m. without having breakfast first,” said the holidaymaker.

The next departure should then take place on Wednesday morning, but “the flight was canceled again and again”. Finally, it took a whopping 36 hours until a plane started its journey to Düsseldorf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A true horror journey for the stranded vacationers.
