This is five times more than what it had at the beginning of an election year in its 30-year history. The group had signed its largest ever political budget for 2022, which was $72 million, before the surge. This is nearly $20 million more than the group spent in 2020, which included a presidential campaign.
The cash pile almost guarantees that the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion, which was expected by the summer, won’t do much to stop what has become one the most pressing issues in America. Opponents of abortion say they will use their newfound funds to vote in the November elections.
Marjorie Dannenfe stated that once a decision has been made, “there will a lot more focus on all states and the midterm election.”
