“Live and hilarious” is an international mediamoney project, the creation of which took more than two years. Those who participated in the collection of materials and artifacts, living around the world.

it all began when one day project coordinator Artem Gottlieb (a former employee of the Novosibirsk Museum of local lore, now works in Moscow) in one documentary, which was shown at the Museum of the synagogue on Bolshaya Bronnaya, heard about the theater. Told him about the composer Oscar Feltsman.

In an interview with Oscar B. recalled that he spoke to Jewish music, wrote for Belgazeta. The famous composer during the war years he lived in Novosibirsk and worked in the theatre (1941, O. B. Feltsman was evacuated to Novosibirsk, where at the age of 20 years was Secretary of the Siberian branch of the USSR Union of composers).

– This story once again confirms how quickly we all forget. Just passed 70-80 years. And this applies not only to this particular story in the life of a young Novosibirsk, – tells Artem Gottlieb. So we Director of the Novosibirsk regional Museum Andrey Shapovalov decided that it was important to tell you about this totally forgotten page in the history of Novosibirsk, about which there are no sources. It is important to return the memory of the music and the people who worked in the theater during the war.

This Museum employees shared with her grandmother. She said that, of course, knows about Belgazeta, went to his performances. And what’s more, the actors and the Directors of the theatre have been in her house, and the local newspaper wrote reviews, despite the fact that the performances were in Yiddish, this did not prevent the city’s residents to understand the performances, rejoice and cry.

Thanks to a grant of the Russian Jewish Congress began work on the international Museum project. In Novosibirsk there was only the documents connected with economic activity of the theater. The quest connected museums and archives in Moscow, Belarus, Lithuania. Invaluable assistance was now living in Germany, the art historian Inna Gerasimova, which for many years was engaged in studying of history of the Belarusian state Jewish theatre. It turned out that in the Lithuanian state archive of literature and art have a Foundation Victor Golovchiner, which in those years was the artistic Director and theater Director.

– There we found a curious album – list of performances of artist Alexander Constantine, which was in Novosibirsk, – says Artem Gottlieb. – A lot of materials has provided the Belarusian state archive-Museum of literature and art. It’s there that the piano score of the Lion Litvinova (Gurevich) – of eisser, actor theater, very musical person. On the basis of the piano score of the students and teachers of the Novosibirsk music Conservatory named after M. I. Glinka had made an arrangement for Chamber orchestra.

Thanks to the talent of the modern composer Andrey Molchanov was able to recover, rethink and present to the public in Novosibirsk and other musical works of Lev Litvinov, United in the “Belgoset-Suite”. Performed by the songwriter Psoy Korolenko and musicians Brass quintet “54” was a new sound is represented in the exhibition songs of the composers of the staff of the theatre Jacob Rosenfeld and Samuel Polonsky. By the way, under the guidance of composer Polonsky at Belgazeta was established choir that sang songs in Yiddish, Russian, Belarusian languages including at the front. In 1942 Polonsky wrote the music for “the Song of Lenintsev”, dedicated to the heroism of the Siberian railroad.

– All the people to whom we spoke, were treated with great warmth and desire to help. So many memories, we moved to media, knowing that a few people will read them. Now people in any country, can open a page on the website OGCF and to see the materials. Now the boundaries are erased, and can be done without large investments, international projects, hold conferences on “Zuma” – says Artem Gottlieb.

the Exhibition was made mobile. The authors of the project hope that after the opening of the borders closed due to the coronavirus, they will be able to show it not only in Moscow but also in Belarus, Israel and other countries.

…One of the performances Belgoset raised in Novosibirsk, called “Lebedik UN freylekh” (“Alive and fun”). Theater employees lived and went on stage, acted in a collective field or at the front of the soldiers only to their audience at heart became a little lighter, that they felt that no matter what, people are still alive and certainly ahead – Victory.

In Novosibirsk for the first year of operation Belgoset was able to recover my repertoire. In 1942 it was re-staged classic plays “Bar-Kokhba”, “teve-milkman”, “Tsvey manilamen”, “Herschel Ostropoler”, “Witch”, “Bewitched tailor”. The actors themselves made costumes, participated in the creation of sets and props, chief conductor of the theatre Solomon Ammerman memory restored of the score, as in evacuation in Novosibirsk did not have time to take.
