(New York) American actor Jonathan Majors, a rising star in Hollywood, was arrested in Manhattan on suspicion of assaulting a 30-year-old woman, New York police said on Sunday.
Police said they responded to a call to emergency services on Saturday morning and that after a “preliminary investigation” they determined that “a 33-year-old man had been involved in an argument maid with a 30-year-old woman,” according to a statement.
The woman, who told police she was “assaulted” and whose relationship to the actor was not clarified, was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries to her head and neck, and is in “stable condition”, according to the same source.
The actor’s agent, Carrie Gordon, assured in a press release published by the daily Los Angeles Times, that the actor had done “nothing wrong”.
She said she hopes she can “clear his name” quickly, while the actor’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, quoted by local media, said they were “gathering and quickly going to present to the district attorney evidence in the case.” hope that all charges against him will be dropped”.
