The Schleswig-Holstein CDU member of the Bundestag Gero Storjohann is dead. The politician died on Sunday at the age of 64 after a long period of intensive medical treatment as a result of a serious illness, as his representative office announced on Monday. Storjohann has been a member of the Bundestag since 2002. In 1994 he was elected to the state parliament, where he was spokesman for housing policy for the CDU parliamentary group.
Party leader Friedrich Merz also publicly mourns his party colleague on Twitter. “After a long and serious illness, our parliamentary colleague and friend Gero Storjohann passed away today. We mourn with his family and friends,” said Merz.
Since 2002, Storjohann has represented the constituency of Segeberg/Stormarn-Mitte as a directly elected member of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. In the transport committee, he campaigned for an improvement in the transport infrastructure in Schleswig-Holstein. The passionate cyclist lived with his wife Maren in Seth near Bad Segeberg. He also leaves behind three adult sons.
