The first trailer for Maestro, a feature film starring and directed by Bradley Cooper, has just been unveiled. Opposite Carey Mullingan, Cooper will play the role of conductor Leonard Bernstein.
Netflix on Tuesday shared the first images of this biographical film which Bradley Cooper also co-wrote and produced. The film will chronicle the composer and conductor’s life, focusing particularly on his 25-year marriage to Felicia Montealegre.
Britain’s Care Mullingan will step into the shoes of Bernstein’s wife. Maya Hawke will play the couple’s daughter, Jamie, and Sam Nivola will play the son, Alexander.
Maestro is the first film directed by Bradley Cooper since A Star Is Born, a modern reinterpretation of the classic feature film, which marked his directorial debut. The film, which also starred Lady Gaga, had been nominated for an Oscar, notably for that of the best picture.
Matt Bomer, Sarah Silverman, Gideon Glick and several others are also cast. Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Amy Durning are among the producers.
Maestro will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.
