NASA has published a video demonstrating the scale of climate catastrophe. Video created using data from the satellite ICESat-2, which showed changes in the ice cover over the past 16 years.
ICESat-2 uses a laser altimeter, which sends the Ground pulse with a frequency of 10 kHz. Thus, in the period from 2003 to 2019 ice loss in Western Antarctica has led to increased level of Mora 14 millimeters, which is slightly less than a third of the total water level rise observed in the global oceans. In the Eastern part, however, growth was observed glaciers.
Just because global warming in Greenland disappear annually about 200 gigatonnes of ice in Antarctica — 118 gigatons.
