The US President Donald trump has submitted the candidacy of Lieutenant-General in the resignation of Keith Dayton to the position of US Ambassador to Ukraine, reports TASS.
Dayton during his military career he served as a military attaché at the Embassy of Russia, he speaks Russian and German. He also headed the German Marshall Fund of the United States.
The post the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA in Ukraine has remained vacant since may of 2019. Earlier this post was held by MS Marie L. Yovanovitch, was appointed to this position under Barack Obama. In may 2019, she left her post at the personal request of trump, accusing her of disloyalty.
Earlier it became known that the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will receive the post in the Ukrainian government.
