An international group of scientists came to the conclusion that the results obtained from Lam antibodies capable of blocking virus SARS-CoV-2, calling the disease COVID-19, according to a study published in the journal Cell.
Scientists decided to create a means of blocking a special protein that coronavirus uses to penetrate into the human body, reports RIA “Novosti”.
For this, the researchers combined two kinds of antibodies, which are produced in the body from Lam. The result is a tool capable of dealing with the coronavirus.
“This is one of the first antibody which neutralizes SARS-CoV-2”, – said the biologist, associate Professor at the University of Texas Jason McLellan.
During the tests revealed that these antibodies must be entered in human organism as a vaccination. Their effectiveness is manifested, if you do it for a month before infection. In addition, they can be used as medicine to prevent complications in already infected patients.
The study started in 2016. His goal was to find a cure for SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV – close to the new coronavirus-type SARS-CoV-2.
