In the Rostov region military re-enactors search Association SKIF and employees of the gas supplying enterprise has restored Soviet light tank T-26. Restored armored vehicles transferred to the Museum collection “Samburska height”.
“T-26 is quite a rare machine and in the Rostov region will be presented for the first time. The modern generation should know on what technology forged the Victory”, – said the Director of the enterprise Vladimir Revenko.
As it turned out the tank was discovered near the hamlet of Oseevsky Ust-Donetsk area. In July 1942 there were fierce battles with the advancing German units. The tankers covered the crossing on the river Kundruchya, but died. Artillery shells smashed the stern and side of the tank, and the car was under water at a depth of two meters. In the summer of 2019, the car was lifted and sent for restoration.
Recall that the T-26 was adopted by the red army in 1931. Armed with 45-mm gun tanks took part in the civil war in Spain, lake Khasan and the river Khalkhin-Gol, and stormed the Mannerheim line.
By the summer of 1941, the red army, there were about 10 thousand T-26. Slow speed and weak armor, they became an easy target for the enemy. On July 15, 1942, “twenty-sixth” were only in the 63rd tank brigade (8 pieces) and 62-m a separate tank battalion (17 pieces) the southern front. During the fighting the end of the month 15 T-26 was lost.
