Almost two thirds of Russians (65%) would support the introduction of strict quarantine and state of emergency (PC) due coronavirus, and only 24% would react to such steps negatively.
It follows from the data of the research conducted by holding “ROMIR” on behalf of the Fund of development of civil society consulted by Vedomosti. Existing restrictive measures in varying degrees, maintained 58% of respondents do not support 13%. And severe restrictions in respect of those categories of citizens who pose a threat to the spread of the virus, agree 88% of respondents.
44% of Russians consider the actions of Federal authorities to contain the spread of coronavirus justified and adequate to the threat, 22% believe they are excessive and hard, and 27%, conversely, favour the introduction of more stringent restrictions. In justification of the measures imposed by regional authorities, sure 46%, with 19% considering it too hard. 37% of respondents recognize excessive in certain types of restrictions: in the first five of those came in the mode of isolation and the penalties for its violation (13%), limitation of movement in the city (12%), closure of workplaces (11%) and the permit system (10%).
However 90% of Russians take preventive measures: wash your hands often (89%), comply with the isolation (76%), wear masks (68%). Difficulties in daily life in connection with the virus experience 81% of respondents, the main challenges are the inability to go outside (45%), lack of medical masks, gloves and sanitizers (44%), change in lifestyle (38%) and physical inactivity (36%).
On measures to support citizens and businesses in connection with the crisis know 50% of respondents (30% something heard), among the most famous — tax deferral (33%), vacation credit for citizens (24%) and support for low-income families (21%). And information about the coronavirus people get mostly from television (78%) and online-media (72%).
About 60% of Russians say that a quarantine is needed, and almost as many believe the threat is serious — these people are ready if necessary to take more stringent measures until the state of emergency, said the head of the development Fund civil society Konstantin Kostin:
Customers of the survey tried to capture, what is the attitude of citizens to the spread of coronavirus and measures, what sources of information they trust, says the head of the Foundation: “for Example, in the period of the pandemic and quarantine, the media became a more important source of information than social media. That is the official sources of trust”. In the future, the indicators will change — in particular, on the foreground there will be social fears, says Kostin: “Now, thanks to the measures eating consolidation of people around the government and its actions, they become more trusting of official sources of information.” That the people advocating the restrictive measures themselves violate the quarantine, expert doubts:
people’s Willingness to introduce more stringent measures until the emergency is due to two things, generated by the fact that they are afraid, believes political analyst Boris Makarenko: “a Scared man is more inclined to stretch the truth and give answers that it deems socially acceptable. People feel that they are pressed, the propaganda has an element of intimidation, they’re afraid became frondeurs. The second point also stems from fears: people always want more stringent measures, but not for himself, hoping that all will be quarantined, and they have — conditionally — kebabs”. However, from the data presented it is unclear whether the respondents comply with all restrictive measures and what are their fears, the expert said: “People say what measures they take to prevent, but even these figures can be cunning. And the question about the difficulties the economic problems are on the last two items: financial trouble call 5%, and unemployment — 2%. It is not clear that people have lost from isolation if they are poor now or has always been poor. It is clear that the peak of incidence in the foreground, fear for life and health, and economic fears delayed, but I still can’t believe that people don’t think about it and not told.”
