The Russian Ministry of health on 28 April expanded the list of possible drugs for the treatment of coronavirus in adults. This was reported on the website of the Department.
Among the drugs which seem promising for the treatment of COVID-19, the Ministry of health called the anti-malaria treatment chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine and mefloquine. However, these drugs have cardiotoxicity, and it may be accompanied by development of long QT syndrome.
MoH also made use of azithromycin (in combination with gidroksihlorohina), a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir, recombinant interferon beta-1b and recombinant interferon alpha, umifenovir, tocilizumab, sarigumba, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone and buritirana.
Drugs have side effects, some of the drugs contraindicated or unwanted pregnancy.
“Given the absence of objective evidence of the effectiveness of the above drugs when COVID-19, treatment assignment must be accompanied by obtaining voluntary informed consent of the patient (or legal representative)”, – stressed in the Ministry of health.
Also, the recommendations of the Department has included therapy with helium. Its effectiveness is being studied, said the doctors.
As reported by “the Rambler”, informed in scientific research Institute Sklifosovsky began testing new treatment methods COVID-19 with the use of helium. Therapy is carried out in a special apparatus by which the patient 15 minutes to breathe heated to 92 degrees with a mixture of helium and oxygen (70% helium / 30% oxygen).
