Dead scientist geologist David Dodin

The outstanding Soviet and Russian geologist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, honored scientist of Russia David Dodin died Tuesday in St. Petersburg on 85-m to year of life. About this TASS said the brother of the scientist, people’s artist of Russia, artistic Director of the Maly drama theatre – theatre of Europe Lev Dodin.

"David Abramovich died today after a long illness. He was 84 years old," said Lev Dodin, adding that in his youth he was going to continue the family tradition and participated with his father and brother in geological expeditions.

Hereditary geologist, one of the oldest representatives of the Geological communities of Russia, David Dodin has been the chief scientific officer of the Saint-Petersburg "VNIIOkeangeologia" (all-Russian research Institute of Geology and mineral resources of the World ocean named after academician I. S. Gramberg), where he worked for three decades. He went down in history as one of the pioneers of the world’s largest platinoid-copper-Nickel Oktyabrskoye deposits in Norilsk, which runs the company "Norilsk Nickel".

Dodin is the author of numerous articles and monographs on the Geology and ecology of the North. He was a member of 33 field seasons in the North. He was awarded the title of Honorary citizen of the Taimyr Peninsula.
