Former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili proposed to Georgian authorities to grant him temporary legal status of the representative of the state leadership and to defer consideration of the cases filed against him criminal cases until the autumn. About it reports RIA Novosti news Agency.
In response, Saakashvili promised to bring the country of 5.5 billion US dollars from foreign partners to repair the damage caused to the economy by coronavirus.
“After the fall, you can continue my legal processes, to condemn me for different things, and so forth. Give me provisional status of the official representative of the Georgian leadership just one question — in the process of obtaining foreign aid, and I guarantee that will bring 5.5 billion of aid — enough to save the country’s economy,” he planned to pay off the prosecution of Saakashvili.
however, he assured that he is ready to seek support from international financial institutions and European political leaders, whom he knows personally. Saakashvili believes that looming on the background of the pandemic coronavirus economic crisis may lead Georgia to poverty and hunger.
Mikheil Saakashvili left Georgia in November 2013. The Prosecutor’s office in absentia brought a policy of prosecution in several criminal cases, including the embezzlement of about five million dollars of budgetary funds for personal needs. In 2014, the court of Tbilisi in absentia arrested the ex-President.
