China, the members of three families (only ten people), had dinner in the same restaurant, had contracted the coronavirus from the air. This reports the South China Morning Post.
Scientists who have studied these cases of infection, suggested that a strong air flow from the air conditioner could spread droplets formed during coughing and sneezing, among the three tables.
Csanion Lu from the Center for control and prevention of diseases in Guangzhou found that the first of the ten cases on January 23 returned from Wuhan. The next day he had lunch with three members of his family in a restaurant without Windows but with air conditioning. Two other families were sitting at the next table. The distance between tables was about one meter. Their lunch was about an hour.
Later in the day the first patient had fever and started coughing, he was in the hospital. Within two weeks sick four other members of his family, three members of the second family and two members of the third family.
After a detailed investigation it was established that the only known source of infection for the second and third families was the first patient in the restaurant.
Csanion Lou advised the restaurants to increase the distance between the tables and better ventilation to reduce the risk of infection.
As reported by “the Rambler”, the scientists considered the main routes of transmission of the coronavirus droplets formed when sneezing and coughing, close contact with infected people and touching contaminated surfaces.
The virus also can be transmitted through contact with infected feces and urine, or through their aerosolization. Aerosolization means turning into particles small enough to be move by air, for example, when flushing the toilet. So when flushing it is important to close the lid of the toilet.
