SIMFEROPOL, 13 APR – RIA Novosti. Member of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs, the Senator from the Crimea region, Sergei Tsekov called inadequate forecast of ex-Secretary of the national security Council and defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on the return of the Crimea and the Donbas under the Ukrainian jurisdiction and stated that soon Ukraine will become part of Russia, than to get the Republic back.
Earlier Turchynov in interview to “Observer” said about the possibility of Kiev to return to the Crimea. The politician called Russia “a colossus with feet of clay” and suggested that it inherited from the Soviet Union “genetic disease of self-destruction”. Therefore, according to him, “in the Ukrainian house can return not only the Donbass and the Crimea”.
“Turchynov has always been inadequate person, who is unable to objectively assess the situation. His current statement is a only a proof. Such people as Turchinov led to the actual destruction of Ukraine,” – said RIA Novosti Turchinov.
“Turchynov All dreams will remain dreams. Ukraine is much more likely, by several orders of magnitude, to become part of Russia. This is a more realistic forecast in comparison with what he says Turchynov”, – said the Senator.
Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russia. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the Russian President, the question of Crimea “closed permanently”.
